Review by MaveriqFans of the animated Aeon Flux will be glad to see that the soundtrack to Peter Chung's futurist spy series has been compiled and released on this beefy, two disc set. If you've seen the show, you will no doubt remember the alien-esque soundscapes that helped make Aeon Flux the cult hit it became, and after one listen it's apparent that Drew Neuman's compositions more than pass the test of home listening. The complex pieces jerk around from theme to theme (a functionality of the show's many scene changes), conveying an unsettling sense of urgency befitting the show's spy motif. An armchair album for sure, this soundtrack is one worth hunting down even if you've never seen nor cared about its visual counterpart.

MARCH 1998 Mark VailThis dual-CD set is a compilation of music from the animated MTV show Aeon Flux. Eye Spy features magnificent, hypnotic, and at times bombastic orchestral synth-works reminiscent of serious scholastic recordings done in university electronic music studios. Neumann used a truckload of gear, which is detailed in the liners. Although it's an enjoyable listen, I can't help by wish he'd stretch out some of the pieces that just get into a groove before taking off in a totally new direction. Some of the vignettes are obviously formatted as a "we'll be right back after this commercial break" message. If you can get by the short-attention-span format, you're likely to enjoy this one.
