ALIEN FARM

Alien Farm has been recording, performing live and pushing the boundaries of contemporary music for more than a decade.

Scott Noegel and Dan Hintz met in Milwaukee in 1985. The two shared an affinity for underground and experimental music. Shortly after their first meeting, Noegel's guitar talents and Dan Hintz's interests in sampling were joined in Alien Farm. Their debut release, Alien Farmers, was recorded in 1986 for the underground label Galivant Media and the group released over a dozen recordings for the label.

Tall Revenant is Alien Farm's first record for the Hollywood-based Tone Casualties, a label specializing in experimental and cutting edge music. The album continues the group's characteristic sound, unfolding deeply textured guitars, subtle, almost subliminal samples and undulating percussion tracks.

Recorded during their recent "Abe In The Lair" sessions in Ithaca, NY, Tall Revenant contains new material as well as older previously unreleased recordings from the Milwaukee "Owl" session and five cuts from Now Fix Me. It is the most comprehensive collection of Alien Farm's unique sound to date. In a recent review, Huh! magazine described Alien Farm's music as, "...a striking emotional symphony of guitars, samples and percussion."

Alien Farm's intense live shows, featuring disorienting imagery of surreal and malevolent skeletons, owls, UFOs, giant hands, tractors, crows, rabbits, and even Abraham Lincoln as a vampire, reveals a distinctive and Dada-esque persona. The group's prolific and unpredictable use of sets and backdrops, costumes, film loops and video in their shows complements their darkly cinematic sound. Their compelling live shows have also been enhanced by the selection of such interesting sites for their shows as museums and other public places. Tall Revenant, is the best expression of that persona to date.

Noegel and Hintz are often augmented by other artists, including Dwain Flowers (drums), Greg Bowman (sampling) and John Reimer (sampling). Alien Farm's international popularity was demonstrated when two cuts off their 1995 release, Now Fix Me, sat atop the Russian Radio Top Ten for two months, sharing the national spotlight with major mainstream acts like New Order, Peter Gabriel and Cabaret Voltaire.

The group is currently planning a series of live shows for the West Coast of North America during the fall of 1995.
