GABOR CSUPO
One of the world's most respected animation artists, chairman and Co-founder of Klasky Csupo, Inc., executive producer and founder of Tone Casualties, musician and father, Gabor Csupo is truly a contemporary renaissance man.
Csupo was born in 1952 in Budapest, Hungary, and received his animation education at Hungary's famed Pannonia studio. Leaving Hungary for political reasons in 1975, he demonstrated his love for music by leaving all his belongings behind when he left the country -- except his collection of 500 record albums! Csupo went to Stockholm where he helped produce Sweden's first animated feature and met his future partner, American graphic designer Arlene Klasky. Together they formed Klasky Csupo, Inc., in 1981.
Csupo remained interested in music and continued to grow as a musician while achieving unparalleled success, worldwide recognition and critical acclaim with animated television programs, titles and trailers and commercials for Klasky Csupo, Inc. He formed Tone Casualties in 1994 to push the envelope of conventional music and showcase eclectic and experimental music. He is involved with every aspect of the label, from artist relations and recording to jacket design and marketing.
The label also provides a creative outlet for Csupo himself, who has released two CDs for Tone Casualties, a collaboration with the avant garde Accidental Orchestra and his first solo recording.
"The mission of Tone Casualties is to give the many talented artists in experimental and ambient music a place to express themselves creatively and to push the envelope of conventional music," Csupo said. "I love the way technology, electronics and music have converged and Tone Casualties is a vehicle to explore and express all that this convergence has to offer."
In addition to leading Tone Casualties, Csupo and his partner Arlene Klasky have guided their animation studio to a position of leadership in the animation and entertainment industry. Known for innovation and imagination, Klasky Csupo, Inc. has created and produced some of the most popular animated television series on television, including "The Simpsons," "Rugrats," "Duckman," "Aaahh!!! Real Monsters" and "Santo Bugito." A multiple Emmy Award and Cable Ace Award winner, Klasky Csupo, Inc. is one of the world's leading animation studios.
